Equipment

  • Small whisk
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Start by mixing all of the ingredients together in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Be sure to stir well to ensure that everything is evenly combined.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning to your liking. If it’s too tangy, add a bit more tomato sauce. If it needs more heat, add a bit more cayenne pepper. Remember, you can always add more, but you can’t take it away, so be careful not to overdo it.
  • Once you’re happy with the flavor, transfer the sauce to a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium-low heat. Allow it to simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
